Born out of Necessity (Australia's biggest Filipino Show) ODuring the Sydney Olympic 2000 the Fiesta Kultura was made one of its community hospitality project and cultural event by the Olympic Organizing Committee which drew crowd record attendance to about 35,000 to 40,000. The Filipino- Australian community support has become very popular wherever the event is hosted in Sydney popular landmarks. Crowd has brought the repeat hosting at the Olympic Park Sports Centre to standing room only in 2004. Likewise at the new venue at Rosehill Garden Racecourse at Parrammatta where for the first time the Fiesta Kultura was held in successive two days event in 2007. In recent time global attendances were shown when holiday makers from US, Canada and Europe have coincided their trip to Australia to partake the Filipino-Australian institution. Likewise, known Philippines prestigious businesses have participated the event in the Philippines – Australia Trade and Tourism Expo component, thus Ayala Lands, Smart Communications, Megaworld, Robinson Land Corp, SM Realty Corp., DMCI Homes / Atlas Pinoy Properties, Lakeshore Resort, Philippine Airlines, DOT, Cebu Lacto Bacillus PAFI Techno Resources, G&W Architects, Plus Builders and many more. Lunching the ABS CBN Global on its Australia’s operations as event major sponsor has provided top class entertainment WOWOWEE TV cast headed by Mr. Entertainment himself Willie Revillame and participation by Carlos Agassi, Janelle Jamer, Rica Peralejo and Iya Villania brought an astounding crowd volume to a new dimension in 2005. In recent years remarkable performances from various PASC contracted and ABS CBN TFC Global supplied sponsored artists lift the community entertainment package to its highest standard. The likes of Philippines favorites movie idols Piolo Pascual, Claudine Barretto, Sam Melby, Tony Gonzaga, and comedian singing sensations Alan K, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang, Gladys Guevarra, Randy Santiago and Terri Aunor have graced the occasions. The US raised brother and sister tandem John and Amber Rowley made a new sensation as a Pop Jewel with her popular hit Manila and dance crazed Ekembot Mo.. The continuing success of the PASC Inc. flagship activity, namely the Grand Philippine Sydney Fiesta Kultura and its primary promotion of community participation sports for the Filipino- Australian community was once again recognized by the Philippine government with the second Philippines Presidential Award (Banaag Award) in 2004 and awarded by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at Malacanang Palace, Manila. Recognizing the cultural, welfare and scholarship advocacy in selected charities both in Australia and the Philippines, the City of Manila has awarded the PASC Inc. with Special Citation during the 435 th “Araw Ng Maynila” Foundation celebration and the Ten Most Outstanding Manila Awards Night 2006 at the prestigious Manila Hotel. |
